Board Member | Author | Advocate for Human-Centered Recovery
Dr. J. Anthony Quinn is a Board-Certified Orthodontist who served the Northeastern Pennsylvania region for over 44 years. In addition to his distinguished career in healthcare, Dr. Quinn has spent the last 35 years deeply engaged in recovery work, drawing from his own lived experience and a longstanding commitment to a 12-step program. He has been an active participant and supporter of a weekly Caduceus meeting—a recovery group tailored for medical professionals navigating the unique challenges of early sobriety.
Raised in Scranton’s Nativity section, Dr. Quinn brings a grounded, local perspective to conversations around addiction, reward-based drinking, and the long-term efficacy of Medically Assisted Treatments (MATs), particularly for highly trained professionals. His perspective is shaped by decades of service, observation, and a strong belief in the healing power of human connection.
In his book, Observations from a Recovering Alcoholic: Why Human Connection is More Important Than Ever, Dr. Quinn offers reflections on his personal journey, professional insights, and a cautionary stance on overreliance on drug-assisted treatment in the pursuit of recovery. His message is clear: successful recovery is rooted not only in medicine, but in meaningful human relationships.
Dr. Quinn brings both clinical insight and personal wisdom to his role on the Fellowship House Board, advocating for integrated, person-centered recovery rooted in community, honesty, and care.
