Licensed Clinical Psychologist | Trauma & Recovery Specialist

Aileen Van Wie is a licensed clinical psychologist based in Florida, where she currently serves as a clinician at an inpatient psychiatric hospital. Her approach to care is grounded in compassion, clinical rigor, and a deep understanding of how psychological distress intersects with trauma, substance use, and family systems.

Dr. Van Wie earned her PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University Maryland, an APA-accredited program, following the completion of a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology at the same institution. She became fully licensed in the state of Florida in 2022, after completing a comprehensive year-long postdoctoral residency. Over the past decade, Dr. Van Wie has gained broad clinical experience across diverse settings, including psychiatric hospitals, community mental health centers, and addiction treatment programs offering inpatient, intensive outpatient (IOP), and recovery housing services. Her clinical style integrates mindfulness-based stress reduction, evidence-based trauma care, and psychological assessment to support adults navigating acute psychiatric distress, substance use disorders, and long-term recovery.

Her academic work includes a doctoral dissertation on the efficacy of mindfulness-based practices in substance use treatment, reflecting her commitment to integrating research with real-world clinical outcomes. Dr. Van Wie began her research journey as an undergraduate at Temple University, where she was mentored by Dr. Phillip Kendall at the Child and Adolescent Anxiety Disorders Clinic. Her early work explored the impact of family dynamics on treatment outcomes for anxious youth.

Dr. Van Wie is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and its Division 12, which focuses on clinical psychology and assessment. Her achievements have been recognized through numerous awards, including the Kolvenbach Research Grant, Phi Beta Kappa, and academic honors from Temple University and Loyola University Maryland.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Van Wie remains deeply curious about the intersection of mindfulness, resilience, and healing. She is committed to helping clients build lives defined not by diagnosis, but by agency, insight, and growth.
