Biography
Co-Founder | Board Member | Attorney | Business & Real Estate Developer
Lawrence J. Moran, Jr., Esquire—known as Larry—is a respected attorney, board-certified addiction counselor, and co-founder of Fellowship House. In addition to his work in behavioral health, Larry is also a successful businessman and real estate developer with a strong footprint in Northeastern Pennsylvania, contributing to the economic revitalization and growth of the region.
Larry’s professional achievements are deeply informed by his personal journey through addiction and long-term recovery. After a decade-long struggle with substance use disorder—including seven inpatient treatment stays between 1999 and 2009—Larry entered recovery at the lowest point in his life. What followed was a complete transformation: he returned to and completed law school, rebuilt his relationships, and began to thrive in both personal and professional life.
Through his experience, Larry developed a powerful insight into what recovery truly requires—emotional safety, dignity, structure, and purpose. He helped design Fellowship House with these principles in mind, creating a recovery experience that feels livable, welcoming, and free from the stigma of institutional care. He believes early recovery must offer hope from the very beginning, not as a reward, but as a foundational condition for lasting change.
Larry’s business acumen and success as a developer complement his clinical work, allowing him to bring operational excellence, strategic planning, and long-term vision to the Fellowship House mission. He has led the development and restoration of multiple residential and commercial properties in the Scranton region, including the historic transformation of Green Ridge House—a coal-era mansion repurposed into a dignified recovery residence, recognized by the United States Congress for its contribution to public health and community revitalization.
Larry holds a J.D. and is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania. He is also a board-certified addictions counselor and a committed advocate for culturally responsive, trauma-informed care. His leadership continues to shape the recovery landscape in Pennsylvania by bridging the worlds of healthcare, business, and human dignity.
